Creamy Hot Chocolate

  • 145 g (3/4 cup + 1 Tbsp) dark chocolate (72%)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 360 mL (1 cup + 1/2 cup) milk
  • 2 Tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp (4 g) corn starch
  • 30 g (2 Tbsp) heavy cream or whipped cream (33%)


  1. Cut the chocolate into small pieces.
  2. In a small saucepan, add chopped chocolate, cocoa powder and 160 mL milk. Put on fire and stir constantly so that it does not burn and there are no lumps (medium heat).
  3. Add coconut sugar and stir constantly. Cook for 7 – 10 minutes or until all chocolate is melted.
  4. Add a pinch of salt and add milk (200 ml). Stir constantly with a whisk.
  5. Add cornstarch and stir continuously with a whisk.
  6. As soon as you see steam, immediately remove the pan from the heat.
  7. Top with whipped cream and cocoa powder.
